Imbolc (Feb 1st) is associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid (possibly syncretized with St. Brigid); it’s the glimmer of Spring and birth of the first lambs, so associations include sheep, milk, blooming blackthorn, and weather forecasting. (This is one possible origin for the later tradition of Groundhog Day!)

It’s a time for setting intentions, and a traditional time to visit clootie wells, as well as leaving one’s clothes out to be blessed by the goddess as she passes. Other traditions include making Brigid Crosses and corn dollies/effigies.
